The news release yesterday from the Government of Alberta, Alberta Health Services, and Alberta Education indicated that Alberta School Divisions will begin with Scenario 1.
Stoney Education Authority will also begin with Scenario 1. However, we will closely monitor the situation regarding COVID-19 as the first day of school draws closer.
School Administrators have been preparing for either Scenario 1 or 2. Many plans will be in place to enhance the safety of all our students and will be ready for school on September 8th following Labour Day. There will be a number of extra precautions that will be implemented at all schools.
We will also be utilizing our local health departments and Nakoda Emergency Management to help guide us with safety measures and professional development for our staff regarding safety practices. We hope to release our complete re-entry plan in the first part of August. This will offer a more detailed plan for students returning to school. For example, screening practices that will be utilized for anyone entering the school daily and how the first week of school will look.
Please stay tuned for any additional updates as we approach the start of school. Please keep in mind that conditions regarding the virus in our community can change very quickly. We will certainly adjust our plan to help provide the safest environment in our schools.
